On December 27, 2020, a historical snapshot of crypto costs that day shows that Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) have emerged similarly in relation to the two major valuations of the crypto resource market. This is still obvious because both BTC and ETH are the two best market leaders. Despite this, on December 27, 2020, the value of bitcoin was $26,272 per unit, and the market capitalization of bitcoin was $488 billion. Also, Ethereum was trading at $682 per unit on that particular day, with a market capitalization of around $77.8 billion.
Tether (USDT) took third place in the market last year and today, it has moved to the fourth largest crypto asset by market valuation. Last year, xrp (XRP) ranked fourth but today, XRP has moved to the seventh largest cryptocurrency hub. A year ago, Litecoin (LTC) was the fifth largest crypto asset by overall rating, but LTC has fallen to the 19th place. Similarly, Bitcoin Cash (BCH) had the sixth largest market valuation last year, but on December 26, 2021, Bitcoin Cash was hovering around the 25th position.
Fast forward to December 26, 2021 stats, BTC was trading at $50,809 per unit and the total market valuation was around $960 billion. On December 26, 2021, ETH was trading at $4,067 per coin, with a market capitalization of around $483 billion. We know that prices have changed since December 27, 2020, but BTC and ETH still lead the pack in terms of top cryptocurrency positions. On the other hand, the rest of the top 20 coins are shuffled like a deck of playing cards.
Binance Coin (BNB) managed to increase its market position and is the third largest as of December 26, but a year ago BNB market capitalization took seventh place. Chainlink (LINK) was in eighth place last year, but as of December 26, LINK has fallen to the 20th market capitalization rating. Cardano (ADA) hovered around the ninth largest position in the market last year but moved to sixth place within a year. Finally, Polkadot (DOT) was the 10th largest market and also maintained this position on December 26th.
In addition to the top 10, a large amount of tokens have shifted from 10th to 20th place quite a lot this year. Many coins advanced and countless tokens dropped the positions they previously held last year. It shows that 12 months in the crypto world can fundamentally change things.
New additions to the top ten include Terra (LUNA) in ninth place, USDC has entered the eighth place in terms of coin market capitalization, and Solana (SOL) is in fifth place today. LUNA’s market capitalization last year was 67th, USDC ranked 11th, and SOL ranked 139th on December 27, 2020.
