Bitcoin price news – Live: BTC value sees dramatic fluctuations to kick off tough 2022

The cryptocurrency market was affected by dramatic declines after a relatively flat start to the year.

The poor performance of Bitcoin and other digital currencies means that 2022 may turn out to be difficult for prices, with many dropping more than 10 percent over the past week.

Bitcoin is now down nearly 40 percent from its peak in November, when it reached an all-time high of nearly $69,000.

Many prominent cryptocurrency figures have predicted big things for bitcoin this year, and the deceptive six-figure price target is still seen as a realistic outcome for many analysts and traders.

Part of the reason for this is the massive momentum carried over from 2021, which saw massive interest in enterprise and retail — exemplified on Monday by former First Lady Melania Trump’s celebration of bitcoin’s anniversary.

Renewed expectations that the price of Bitcoin will reach $100,000 in 2022

The founder of cryptocurrency platform Nexo is the latest industry figure to expect bitcoin to hit six figures this year.

Anthony Trenchev told CNBC that the $100,000 price target for bitcoin, which many analysts believe will reach in late 2021, is still valid until 2022.

“Every time investors and the broader community write off bitcoin, it has massively outperformed,” he said. This was the case in 2020 when it jumped nearly 1,000 per cent and in 2021 where it rose 63 per cent. I am very optimistic about Bitcoin.”

Melania Trump Celebrates Bitcoin Day

Among those who celebrated the 13th anniversary of the founding of the Bitcoin block yesterday was the unexpected number of Melania Trump.

Noting that Bitcoin has a market capitalization of over $1 trillion, the former first lady took the opportunity to connect her recently launched NFT endeavor with the hashtag #MelaniaNFT. Her first show on the NFT platform was a digital watercolor of her eyes called Melania’s Vision.

Her husband, Donald, is apparently not a fan of cryptocurrency, after claiming in an interview last month that the cryptocurrency is “very dangerous” and threatens the US dollar.
